There is no new science, says the secretary. But, lots of data from the states that has been totally ignored up to this point. I love it!
Third, I am asking the Secretary of Health and Human Services and the Attorney General to initiate the administrative process to review expeditiously how marijuana is scheduled under federal law. Federal law currently classifies marijuana in Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act, the classification meant for the most dangerous substances. This is the same schedule as for heroin and LSD, and even higher than the classification of fentanyl and methamphetamine – the drugs that are driving our overdose epidemic.
“The president was very clear—he wants this done as quickly as possible,” Becerra said. “It’s not new science, but there’s a lot of information to gather because in many states marijuana has been legalized for either medical purposes or recreational purposes.”
Yeah, strong signal from Secretary Becerra that the Administration is already considering a major change to how we assess currently accepted medical use. I mean, I suppose that same state-level evidence could be relevant to other aspects of the inquiry, too, but unless the Secretary was speaking flippantly, it definitely appears something significant is afoot. Thanks for reading, Carl.
Yes.

The announcement is that those whose sole conviction is for
possession of cannabis are to be released.
As a result, how many people will be released from USA federal prison?
Well, how many people are in jail exclusively for that "offense"?
ZERO. Nobody.
THAT aspect of this story is a fraud. The rest is a possibility.
I see it all as a head fake, a ruse before the midterm elections
to fool certain potential voters into supporting democrats
for no real positive reason.
All talk. No substance. A scam. Another "promise" already broken.
(Since mid-2008, I have only voted for 3rd party candidates.)
Well analyzed. Thanks.
